Philips SA6185 PMP

Battery life is 5 hours and the PMP can play MP3, WMA, and WMV files. Storage capacities range from 2 GB to 8GB. Pricing and availability are unknown at this time.

PMP Has Liliputian 1.1-inch Screen

pmpwith-1inscreen.jpgAnyone else out there wondering why exactly you would bother putting a 1.1-inch screen on a PMP, or is it just me? I could understand if it was just for text, but the horrible named MD374iFOX-11 MP4 player plays video too.

I can’t imagine it being enjoyable to watch videos on such a tiny screen. The player supports MP3, WMA, JPG, BMP, and MTV formats. The Screen is an OLED with 65k colors.

An optional FM tuner and FM recorder is available and the player supports 3D surround effects. Audio playtime is eight hours and video playtime is 2.5 hours. No pricing or availability information is available at this time.

Chinese PMP Steals Alienware Logo

pmpripsalienware.jpg It only takes seconds each time I peruse Alibaba to find a blatant rip off of someone else’s design for a PMP. Today the design isn’t so much what was ripped off as the name and logo of Dell’s Alienware gaming Pc maker.

Chinese company China Guangdong has nicked the Alienware logo and names for its DV MP4 player. The device looks nice and has decent specs with a 2.4-inch TFT screen miniSD card memory expansion, and more.

Other features include an FM tuner and a 1.3MP digital camera. Supported file formats include MP3, WMA and AVI.

Maxspeed MAH025-- Ugliest PMP Ever?

maho25pmp.jpgThere’s ugly then there’s ooglay, the Maxspeed Industry Development PMP falls firmly into the last category. I don’t believe I’ve seen a PMP this ugly ever.

The thing looks like it was designed by a colorblind 3-year-old. Whoever thought bright pink and blue was a good idea needs to be fired. Aside from the homely looks, the player is just as bland elsewhere.

The screen is a 1.8-inch TFT and the device features an eBook reader and voice recording. Supported file formats include AMV, MTV, MP3, WMA, and WAV.

iPod Nano Rip Off Adds Camera

nanocameraclone.jpgIt doesn’t come as a surprise that the iPod nano is one of the more copied PMPs on the market. Typically, we don’t see clones coming with new and interesting features added.

Alibaba has a PMP on its site that has done just that. The 2.4-inch device has a 220 x 176 pixel screen with 262k colors and from 128MB to 4GB of storage available. The camera is a 2MP unit and power comes from a built in rechargeable battery.

Simple, Sleek and Attractive ONEDA PMP

ondapmp.jpgThere are two schools of basic desi9gn when it comes to PMP’s. The first throws every conceivable feature, knob and button on the front of the PMP. The second goes for a clean, simple look. The VX848 from ONDA falls squarely into that final category.

The simple looking device is attractive, in an iPod-ish sort of way. It only has one control on the device that acts as a four-way rocker for accessing everything you need. The screen is a 2.4-inch LCD and a mic for audio recording is built-in.

Video in MPEG-4 format is supported and supported audio files include MP3, WMA, and WAV. The device can also display JPEG images.
