Samsung YP-P2 Reviewed

samsungyp-p2.jpgCNET has a review of the cool looking Samsung P2 PMP posted. The device plays video in SVI or WMV formats and supports MP3 and WMA music files.

CNET says the good points are fantastic audio quality, large touch screen and customizable interface. The bad features are imprecise touchscreen controls, no tactile feedback and no memory expansion.

The bottom line is that the YP-P2 is a cool PMP for those looking for a touchscreen device. CNET rated the P2 a 7.7 out of 10 for a very good rating.

Archos PMP with 3G Sim Card Coming

archos605wifi.jpgReports are coming in from Europe that Archos is getting ready to introduce a new PMP for the European market. There is no word on a launch date for the device other than in 2008 and no comments as to availability in the US has been made.

The 3G Sim card would allow the PMP to browse the internet wirelessly from areas with service. Archos is reportedly looking to UK mobile provider Orange as a partner.

Other European wireless service providers are said to be interested as well. This may be one of those devices that we never see here in the US. Judging from Archos feature set on its typical PMP devices, this one would play video and music as well.

NASD Technoliogy PMP looks like a Mercedes

Yahee YHM-MPE02 PMP

yaheepmp.jpgAnother Friday another Chinese MP3 player ripping off a product design. The Yahee YHM-MPE02 PMP looks like a Nokia XpressMusic phone. It also reminds me a lot of what a name badge would look like with a LCD on the front.

Other than the ripped off design the Yahee player sports 4GB of storage a 2-inch QVGA screen with controls arrayed on each side and a FM tuner.

Other features include a built-in speakers and a microSD card slot. Supported file types include WAV, ASF, MP3, JPEG, AVI, and TXT files.

SanDisk Sansa View Reviewed

sansaview.bmpI am a big fan of the Sansa line of PMP devices, and actually much prefer them over the iPod. CNET recently got its hands on the new Sansa View 16GB PMP. Overall CNET rated the player a 7.3, equating to very good on the CNET scale.

The view has a large 2.4-inch screen, meaning it’s a bit bigger than most PMP’s. The view measures in at 4.3-inches x 1.9-inches x 0.4-inches. The laundry list of good features includes great value, photo and video support, microSD card slot, FM radio and a voice recorder.

Bad points are the large size, uninspiring user interface and small center select button. In the end, CNET says the Sansa View is perfect for users looking for price over flashy interface and excellent sound quality.
