Archos Announces New 5th Generation PMP's
Archos announced today that their 5th generation PMP devices will be shipping mid-September. This new 5th generation of players has two products in it, the Archos 405 and the WiFi capable Archos 605.The 405 will be 0.5” thick and weigh only four ounces and is the first Archos player to use flash memory. A 3.5” screen and 2Gb of storage space allow for video playback and expansion is via an SD slot that handles SDHC cards. The price for the 405 will be $169.99.
The Archos 605 has WiFi and allows Internet surfing with an optional browser plug-in and you can stream content to it from your PC using the DVR station software. The screen has an 800 x 480 resolution and it can be had with 30GB, 80GB, or 160GB and a 4GB flash based version. Pricing is $229.99 for the 4GB, $299.99 for the 30GB, $329.99 for the 80GB and $399.99 for the 160GB.
