This might be a new trend to replace the DVD drive with a hard-drive and voila you got a digital portable video player.

The Shinco PMP-1700 measures 195x143x27mm and weighs about 690g. The screen size is 7 inch. Formats supported are AVI, MP4, MPEG, WMA, MP3 and OGG. The Shinco PVP also has a SD card slot.

viliv P1 Goes on sale in March in the United States

Still the viliv P1 is quite interesting. It is supposed to feature an all Macromedia Flash UI (see photo below) and a 20GB hard-drive. Another Apple iPod similarity is the click wheel.
The portable media player measures 161.0mm X 74.0mm X 18.0mm and weighs 250g. The screen is 4" with a QVGA resolution. The viliv P1 plays WMV, DivX video, mp3, wma and ogg audio and displays jpgs, png and bmps. Other features include, FM-Tuner, FM-Transmitter and 5.1 Audio output.
Of course no information on when this advanced PMP will hit stores. This PMP is based on the feature list and specifications pretty impressive.

It looks like Macromedia is having some success licensing their Flash technology to Asian gadget manufacturers for the user interface.

The TV PMP only measures 85x65x27mm and weighs 150g. It features a 3.5 or 2.5 inch TFT panel with either 960x234 or 480x234 pixels. Via the integrated Analog TV the portable device can record TV programs in MP4 format. Other features are MP3 player, voice recorder and photo viewer.
The photo shows the reference design. UDM Group is looking to OEM this portable device.

More portable video players should have a built-in TV Tuner. Some offer TV-Tuner in docking stations or as accessory. Integration is key though I think.
