mPack P800 40/80GB Portable Video Player
PQI Europe offers the Taiwanese mPack p800 Portable Video Player.
The mPack has as major differentiator a higher resolution when encoding video than other portable video players from Archos or iRiver. The mPack encodes video with 800 x 576 pixels. Although the 3.5inch screen is only supporting 320x240, the higher encoding resolution pays off when watching videos on a TV. The mPack comes with a remote. This portable Video player also supports DTS Audio.
The player supports the following video formats: DivX 3.11, 4.0, 5.0, AVI, MPG, MPEG 1/2/4, DAT, XVID and WMV. Audio format support consists of: mp3, wav, wma, OGG, AC3. All in all this PMP plays about any format you need.
Battery life is up to 5 hours of movie and over 10 hours of audio - not bad. The mPack p800 comes in either 40GB or 80GB storage capacity. It also sports a 4-in-1 card reader supporting Memory Stick™, Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard™ and SmartMedia™ cards. Other features include: FM Tuner, Photo viewer, text viewer, games, PIM functions and strangely enough a Chinese language trainer.
No pricing information available yet, as I think the companies look for distribution partners. This PVP has some interesting aspects, lets hope it comes on the market.
