World's First Media Portable CD Player - iRiver IMP-1100

iRiver together with Texas Instruments announce the world's first Media Portable CD Player called iRiver IMP-1100.

Clearly an new concept to enhance a portable CD to also play and display photos and video. Is there a market for it?

The IMP-1100 has a 2 inch 260k color TFT screen. The iRiver Media CD Player can play up to six hours of video and approximately 25 hours of music. The iRiver IMP-1100 has a TV-Out, supports, MP3, WMA, ASF, DivX, Jpeg and bmp.

The IMP 1100 is scheduled to be available in the Q3 of 2004 and will have a suggested retail price of $279.99.

Texas Instruments makes the digital signal processors used by iRiver in the IMP-1100 but also in the new PMP-100 HDD PVP series.
