Alaska Airlines hands out Personal Video Players.
APS, located in Tacoma, Washington developed the digEplayer 5500 a Personal Video Player custom built for Airline use.
APS delivers the digEplayers fully loaded with over 6 hours of new released Movies and Music.
APS states that the digEplayers have a lower cost of ownership for airlines than compared to installed DVD systems or DVD Players. It even saves weight, which on airplanes means saving fuel.
Alaska Airlines currently offers digEplayer units in first class and coach on all transcontinental flights between Seattle and the cities of Chicago, Boston, New York (Newark), Washington, D.C., Orlando, and Miami. digEplayers are also available on flights between Anchorage and Chicago.
